She was the beloved wife of Dory Handelong with whom she shared 43 years of marriage last March. She was an active member of the Salvation Army in Both Bethlehem and Pen Argyl. Survivors: in addition to her husband are children, Lynette Swarts and her husband Willard of Easton, Ranae Lilly and her husband Charles of Bethlehem, Jeffrey Bracko at home and Trudy Sauerwine and her husband Lee of Pen Argyl. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Conover. Services: Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service at 10 a.m. on Wednesday December 22, 2010, in the Salvation Army, 521 Pembroke Rd, Bethlehem, where friends may call from 9 a.m. until time of services. She will be laid to rest in Belfast Union Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Long Funeral Home, Bethlehem. |

Personal: He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Janice Fehr. Russell retired from the former Dixie Cup Company, where he worked for 20 years and The Express-Times, formerly The Easton Express, where he worked for 30 years. After retirement he was employed by Walmart and Moyer Lumber. He served as a Sgt. with the Army during World War II. Russell enjoyed playing bingo, music and reading. Memberships: He was a soldier in the Salvation Army, Bethlehem, where he was a bell ringer at Christmas. He was a life member of AmVets, Order of Fleas and Brown & Lynch American Legion Post 9. Survivors: two sons, Russell A. Harstine was employed in heavy equipment service and repair at Coplay Cement Co., Nazareth, before retiring in 1976 with 30 years' service.
Born in Kittnersville, Monroe County, he was a son of the late George and Hazel (Dimmig) Harstine.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving with the Seabees.
Survivors: Wife; daughters, Susan, wife of Stephen Waye of New Richmond, Ind., and Sandra, wife of Thomas Piatt of Palmer Township; son, George J. of Apache Junction, Ariz.; brother Russell of Easton and six grandchildren.
