Research Note | Article on his house on 14th St. https://www.mcall.com/news/mc-xpm-1994-10-09-3012130-story.html Born in Baden, Germany. This Willibald Kuebler does not have any known connection to Mert's family. The other Willibald Kuebler, who also immigrated from Germany in the 1800's, does not seem to have any connection to this W.K., even though they both came to Easton. Married Mary Klusmeyer, who died 10 Aug 1912. Opened brewery in 1852 with Charles Glantz. To 1877-8. Then run by Henry Bormann, and then Willibald came in with Bormann. In 1884 Willibald bought out Bormann and ran the brewery until he died in 1898. Willed to his sons William, Charles and Frank. They operation W. Kuebler's Sons from 1893 to 1919 (Prohibition). Started up again under new management 1933. In May 1889, Peter Kuebler, Brewer, boss brewer at Willibald Kuebler's brewery, while crossing high trestling, Lehigh and Susquehanna Railroad, Easton, this evening (24 May). He was struck by a freight train and knocked off. His leg, arm and neck were broken. He was dead when picked up. [Some relation? a grandson? Not one of the son's listed in obit, but "boss" implies one of the sons....] Perhaps this was really supposed to be William? In 1900, Willibald Kuebler's Sons bought Mineral Springs hotel (hotel and 16 acres) at Sandt's Eddy, for $8500. Son Frank died 23 Apr 1931, 333 E. Canal St, Easton, age 60. At that time his brother Charles was still living. | |
