Jones Hahn, of Pen Argyl, R.1, died Wednesday night after an illness of four months, at his summer home at the Analomink Rod and Gun club, Monroe county.
Born in Pen Argyl, he was a son of William E. and Nettie Altemose Hahn and started his automobile career as a mechanic's helper in Pen Argyl when 15 years old, later working in various garages in that viciinity and opening his own business in Nazareth in 1932. Until Jan 1, 1941, when he bought a farm at Pen Argyl R. 1, he operated the Hahn Chevrolet Co. in Nazareth. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran church, and the Rotary club of Nazareth.
Survivors are his wife, two daughters, Marion and Ruth and a son Larry and a granddaughter Sandra Ann at home; his parents Mr. and Mrs. William E. Hahn and a sister, Mrs. Carrie Shoemaker of Pen Argyl.
Funeral services will be held at the Schmidt home, Wind Gap, Sunday at 1:30. Interment in the Wind Gap cemetery. |

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Schmidt Home, 202 West St., Wind Gap. A calling hour will precede the services. |

Three Pen Argyl youths were injured, none seriously, when the car in which they were riding was demolished shortly after 6 p.m. Monday in Bangor when the vehicle careened off the side of a parked coal truck into a car coming the opposite direction and was overturned.
Occupants of the car owned by William E. Hahn, 224 Robinson Ave., Pen Argyl, were his grandson, Verne Shoemaker, 16, of the same address, who was driving the machine with a learner's permit; George Oliver Jr., 20 and Jack Edwards, 16. All three suffered lacerations and bruises about the head and body.
Daniel Joella, 25, 741 Market St., Bangor, near whose home the accident occurred, was the driver of the other car. He was uninjured. The front of his machine was damaged.
Unloading coal at the residence of Joseph Capobianco when the accident occurred, the coal truck was in charge of Ray Remaley, 224 Main St., Slatington. It is owned by Florence M. Remaly of the same address.
Chief of Police Joseph Grigg of Bangor, investigated. Shoemaker told Grigg lights of Joella's approaching car blinded him and he could not see the parked truck until it was too late. |
