Funeral Services Today For William Jones Funeral services will be held today at the Horton funeral home, Johnsonville, for William McKinley Jones, 47 of East Bangor, who died Saturday night in Easton hospital of injuries received Thursday when he was thrown from a manure spreader on the farm of Harry Emery, near East Bangor, where he was employed. The team of horses to which the manure spreader was attached ran away, throwing him out. He was a son of John O. Jones, of Pen Argyl, R. 1. He was a veteran of World War I, and was a sergeant in the motorcycle corps. The following brothers survive, Harrison Jones of Los Angeles, Calif.; Clarence and Russell Jones of Bangor; Raymond Jones of Mt. Bethel, and two sisters, Mrs. Esther Hahn, of Pen Argyl R. 1, and Mrs. Florence Singer of Bangor. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Phillip Miller, pastor of the Johnsonville Lutheran church. Interment in East Bangor Cemetery. |

Jones, 70, retired slate worker, died Sunday night at his home, S. Broad St., East Bangor, after a five months' illness. Born in Chapmans Quarries, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Owen Jones. He had been a resident of East Bangor for the past 50 years and was employed by the Columbia-Bangor Slate Co. for the past 41 years. Mr. Jones is survived by his wife, Lydia Snyder Jones; a son, John, East Bangor; four daughters, Mrs. Rosa McCammon, Mrs. Harold Reimer, Mrs. George Everett and Mrs. Jack Clancy, East Bangor, and 11 grandchildren. A brother, John, Nazareth, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Schultz, Blairstown, N.J., also survive. Funeral services at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the late home, with the Rev. Byron R. Stauffer, pastor of the East Bangor Grace Lutheran church, officiating. Interment in the East Bangor cemetery. |
