Research Note | I have not researched this family, but we have many DNA matches with a MRCA of Eunice Buxton, so I have added my line back to Daniel Scofield, the immigrant, to my tree. I notice a situation with Eunice Scofield that I have not looked into: The Barbour Collection of Stamford Vital Records lists a marriage of Eunice Scofield and David Slason, Apr. latter end, 1735, by Jonathan Hoit. It also lists a marriage of Eunis Scofield and Elijah Seeley, June 26, 1728, by Jonathan Hoit, J.P. So at first glance it might appear that Eunice may have married 1st Elijah Seeley, then 2nd David Slason. However, Stamford Families database on Rootsweb lists the Eunice Scofield who married Elijah Seeley as born in North Castle, Westchester Cty (1707, same year as this Eunice Scofield), and having children with Seeley from 1728-1746. No parents are shown for this Eunice. This Eunice Buxton, married to David Slason/Slawson had Slawson children from 1735 to 1755, in the area of Stamford that is now New Canaan. So it appears that there were two separate Eunice Scofield's in Stamford at that time. | |
