Mr. Garnsey was born in Palmyra, Jan 10, 1920, the son of mark and Ada Mae Taft Garnsey. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. John (Margaret) Bailey of Newark and Miss Kathy Garnsey of Shortsville; three brothers, Howard and Ralph of Shortsville and Burdett of Palmyra; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. |

He was Earl E. Garnsey, 15, of Garnsey Road, Palmyra RD 1, son of Edward C. Garnsey of Rochester.
The youth died at 6:25 a.m. today in Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, Newark.
State Trooper M. M. Chandler of the Newark substation reported that Earl, on his way home from school, had just stepped out of a pickup track and walked behind the vehicle to cross Route 31. Chandler said the youth ran across the highway into the path of an auto reportedly operated by Jay Hicks, 27, Newark RD 1.
Chandler said the youth was struck by the right front fender of the Hicks car which police said was traveling west about 35 to 40 miles an hour toward Palmyra.
The accident occurred at 11:20 a.m. Earl, a sophomore at Palmyra-Macedon Central School, Palmyra, had just completed midyear examination.
Earl's was the first traffic fatality of 1958 in Wayne County.
For the past few years, Earl had made his home with his uncle, Burdette Garnsey, of the Garnsey Road, Palmyra. His mother had died several years ago.
Surviving are his father, Chester of Henrietta Street, Rochester, two sisters, Mrs. John Bailey of Newark and Miss Kathy Garnsey of Shortsville; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Mae Parker and maternal grandmother, Mrs. Rachel Clifton, both of Palmyra. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, Shortsville. |
