Wilson Moser Took Hold of Live Wire and Was Hurled to the Ground.
Wilson Moser, of Easton, a lineman in the employ of the Bell Telephone Company, climbed to the top of a telephone pole at Siegfried's yesterday afternoon to put up a new line. Coming in contact with a live wire he received a shock and in the resulting fall me almost instant death without, however, leaving a mark on his body.
At the place where the accident occurred the wires run along the tracks of the Central Railroad of New Jersey. Some of the poles are also used by the Lehigh & Northampton Electric Light and Power Company with their power wires.
Moser climbed the pole, which is situated directly between Swan's Hotel and Bachman's store, shortly after 4 o'clock. While engaged in putting up a new wire and handing at a distance of 25 feet from the ground, he took a hold on one of their live wires. Instantly he was hurled into space and fell headlong to the ground. Two of the workmen standing close by drawing the wire on the pole on which Moser had been working, rushed to his assistance. He was picked up unconscious, but still breathing. Before medical aid could arrive Moser passed away.3,1 |
