Newspaper | 17 October 1900 | According to the on 17 October 1900 edition of the. "MacRae -- Holly, Greenwich Depot, Conn. The wedding of Miss Emma Constant Holly, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Holly, to Elmer Livingston MacRae, took place to-night at the home of the bride at Coscob. The house, whose history dates back to Revolutionary times, was decorated throughout with holly and thistle, the latter being in honor of the Scotch ancestry of Mr. MacRae. Candles in Colonial candlesticks and candelabra took the place of other lights, and Japanese lanterns artistically hung with pine were festooned on the oaken wainscoating. The bride wore a gown of white mousseline de soi over white silk, and the bridal veil was the same one worn by hergreat grandmother. Walter Strong Edwards was best man. The presents were principally silver and antique furniture. Friends were present from Boston, Bedford, Winchester, Roxbury and Greenwich.2 |

Although Miss Josie has been delicate in health since infancy, she has been a diligent student, always much interested in her studies, and her young friends were much attached to her. The funeral, which was private, was held at five o'clock Sunday afternoon, Rev. Mr. Porter being in attendance. Her brother and sister, Eddie and Emma, who have also had the measles, are improving."1 |

Obituary | 22 April 1882 | 22 April 1882, Mariposa, California, Mariposa Gazette Obituary:. Another Pioneer Gone. Mr. F. PEET, jr., who resides in San Francisco, No. 9 Geary street, furnished us with the following for publication in the Gazette: " Capt. Francis PEET, after a short illness, died at his home in Burlington, New Jersey, January 16th, 1882, aged 80 years. Capt. Peet came overland to this State in 1849, and settled in Mariposa, where he resided for ten years, afterwards returning to New York. In 1862 he opened business in San Francisco, in the firm name of F. PEET & Son, but continued his residence in New York. In 1868 he withdrew from business in San Francisco, since which time he has resided in Burlington, New Jersey. He leaves two sons and two daughters to mourn his loss. His wife, Maria MEAD died some five years previous. His frank and genial temperament made him many friends in social life, and was always a deep sympathizer and friend, and none knew him but to love him. |

Holley, took place at the Mead homestead, on Maple Avenue, tonight, the Rev. Benjamin Wright of Orange and the Ref. Washington Choate of Greenwich officiating. One hundred and fifty guests were present. The bride wore a costume of white silk point applique, trimmed with orange blossoms, and carried a bouquet of lilies of the valley. She was attended by four flower girls. Everett and Christy Mead, brothers of the bride, were ushers. There were no bridesmaids or groomsman.
Mr. and Mrs. Holley departed after the wedding celebration for a short trip. They will spend the Winter in Greenwich, and will go abroad in the Spring. Among the many gifts was a pair of andirons which has been in the Holley family for five generations, and a chest of silver.2 |
