Research Note | Summary. This record is to collect information about possible parents of Lanah Bennett. At this time, I speculate that: 1) Lanah's father may have been James Bennett because she named a son James Bennett 2) Sarah Bennett who married Peter Knapp in New York, 4 years after Lanah's marriage in New York, may have been related to Lanah. Both families lived the next 3 or 4 decades in Stamford. Both women married Stamford men, in New York within 4 years of each other. They are the only two Bennetts mentioned in Stamford. 3) Lanah may have been born on Long Island. In the 1855 census, she is listed born in Kings County, NY. Sarah Bennett is listed in her FamilySearch tree as being from Glen Cove, Nassau County, NY. In 1790, a James Bennett is listed in Oyster Bay, Nassau County, the next town west of Glen Cove. 4) Both women named a son James Bennett: James Bennett Garnsey and James Bennett Knapp. | |
