A native of Philadelphia, Dr. McCombs graduated from Yale University in 1931 and the University of Pennsylvania Medical School in 1935.
He joined the Pratt staff in 1945 after serving as a Navy doctor in England during World War II.
A specialist in clinical immunology, allergy and diseases of the chest, Dr. McCombs served on the editorial board of the New England Journal of Medicine and was president of the Postgraduate Medical Institute for 10 years.
He leaves his wife, Dorothy; a daughter Patricia Megan of Hilton Head; a son Dr. Peter of Huntingdon Valley, Pa., and three grandchildren. |
