Born in Durham, Bucks County, she was a daughter of the late Ellsworth and Ida Mills.
She was a member of St. Mark's United Church of Christ, Easton.
Surviving are two sons, Ellsworth and Joseph, both of Easton; three daughters, Janet, wife of Stanley Bateman of Phillipsburg, Marjorie, wife of John Kleinle of Forks Township, and Mrs. Doris Baltz of Wilson, 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. A son Russell preceded her in death.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Shillinger Funeral Home, 801 Lehigh St., Easton. A calling hour will precede the services. |

For the last 47 years he was in the employ of H.B. Semple and Sons of Easton, drug firm. Mr. Keyes was active until his last illness.
Survivors are his wife, Jennie Lawson Keyes; a son, William H. Keyes, of Easton; two daughters, Mrs. Grace Lewis, of Easton and Mrs. Addie Jackson of St. Paul, Minn.; two stepchildren, Theodore Tomlin of Philadelphia and Dennis Tomlin, of Akron, O., and a half-brother, Daniel Christian of Easton.
He was a member of the Union A.M.E. church and Absolom Lodge, No. 109, F. and A. M. of Easton.
Funeral services will be held at 2.30 p.m. Monday in Union A.M.E. church. Burial will be made in Easton cemetery. |

Newspaper Mention | 14 May 1920 | The 14 May 1920 edition of the Morning Call, Allentown, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, reported The trial of Joseph Titmos, the Jerico silk mill foreman, after lasting all day at Belvidere, N.J. on Tuesday, resulted in a verdict of guilty of rape on Miss Clara Christian, daughter of Joseph Christian, of Phillipsburg. He was remanded for sentence later. The many women present in the court room laughed aloud at some of the testimony and Judge Reiley ordered them to leave the room. The jury was out only fifteen minutes.
Miss Christian was employed in the same mill with the convicted man and was attacked by him at Heckman street and Silk avenue one evening last summer. (14 May 1920, p. 3) |

Obituary | 3 February 1977 | 3 February 1977, Allentown, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, Morning Call Obituary:. A Palmer Township youth who gashed his throat in a sledding accident about 6:40 p.m. Tuesday died nearly seven hours later in Easton Hospital after surgeons attempted to save his life.
Samuel Peer, 15, of 2507 Freemansburg Ave., died accidentally, the result of a cut of a major artery leading to the head, according to Northampton County Coroner Joseph Reichel.
Witnesses told Wilson police Peer struck a tree while sledding on a hill off S. 24th St., Avona Heights. He was transported from the bottom of the icy hill on the rear of a pickup truck because ambulances of Easton Emergency and Suburban Rescue squads were unable to reach the victim.
Peer, a ninth grade pupil at Easton Junior High School, was born in Wilson, a son of Samuel A. Peer of Easton and Katherine "Kay" (Kilpatrick) Peer, with whom he resided.
Survivors include a sister Debra Ann and brother Joseph Barry, both at home; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Katie Kilpatrick of Easton, and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Schlegel, in Virginia. |
