Birth | 17 October 1781 | Peter Shively was born on 17 October 1781 in Upper Milford Township, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania. I searched through the Old Zionsville Church, Upper Milford Twp, images online at Ancestry, around 1781, and did not see his birth record. Sometimes they are recorded later. Marjory Payne's notes list a source of "Shively Family Notes" at the Northampton County Historical Society, which I will check.1,2 |
Marriage | 4 June 1807 | He and Anna Margaret Heinlein were married on 4 June 1807 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 330 Ferry Street, in Easton, Northampton County, Pennsylvania, Spelled Peter Schnabel and Anna Hainline. I don't see Schnabel listed as an alternative spelling for Shively in the Marx Room WPA records, although various other alternatives are listed, and there are also alternatives for Schnabel. Perhaps at some point when this was recopied, Schaibel became Schnabel? Her Findagrave record lists Anna Margaret Heinlein Shively. |

Research Note | The Berks County USGenWeb site says that he married in Jan 1808 someone in Monroe, Northampton County -- perhaps an error, perhaps means in Monroe County. Because supposedly they had 3 children in Smithfield Twp, Monroe County: John Moser Jr., Feb 1814 Adam, Jul 1815 Martin, Aug 1809 And then supposedly John married 2. Sarah, Feb 1824. It seems odd that Paul and Eva would have named a son Johannes in 1771 and then named a son John in 1772. This John is not listed in Anita Mott's book. I added him here, but may not belong here.

Census | 1840 | He appeared in the census 1840 in Williams Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania. Johann is listed as: One male 20-29 One male 50-59 2 females 5-9 1 female 10-14 1 female 15-19 1 female 20-29 1 female 50-59 This is the first page of the Williams Twp census. Neighbors are Brittin Huff, Charles Moser, Sarah Kirkpatrick (sic). Since we know Sarah lived in "Snufftown" and Frank Trittenbach is listed as died at Snufftown, it makes sense to speculate that John and family are living in the Snufftown locale here. The males would be Frank and John. One of the 5-9 girls would be Agnes. Anna at this time would be 12. Mary would be in the 15-19 slot. This census provides evidence that Amanda's age in the 1850 census is probably wrong, and she is probably the female 20-29. If she had been born in 1812 as her gravestone says, she would be 28 here. |

(60, value of real estate $1500) Amanda Mack (26), William Mack (28, Mason), Mary Trittenbach (24), Agnes Trittenbach (19), Mary Mack (9) John Mack (4) This census would put Amanda's birth at 1824, 12 years later than her gravestone.2 |
Census | 26 July 1860 | She appeared in the census 26 July 1860 in Williams Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania. Catharina is listed as: Catharine (78, Widow, Real Estate $600, personal estate, $150), Rachel (30, Weaver), Mary Ann (29, Mantuamaker), Agnes (27, Servant), Oscar (1 or 9) Near the household of Brittain Huff ("Hough") and Sabina. |
Census-Nonpopulation | 1870
Death | February 1870 | She died in February 1870 in Easton, Northampton County, Pennsylvania, |
Burial | February 1870 | She was buried in February 1870 at Easton Cemetery in Easton, Northampton County, Pennsylvania. Plot G-32. Others in G-32 are Frank (1840-1870) and John ( I don't see a baptism listed for John but perhaps he was a son of John and Catharine) and Rachel (1826-1898). Catharine had a daughter Rachel, but I think she married Lewis H. Jamieson. I have not been able to locate them further, but it would be odd if she were buried as Trittenbach.1 |
